Take-Off Tuesday #20

Welcome to this weeks Take Off. Another beauty from Serena and Lily:

Don't you just want to swoon all over the place? I love this picture so much and found it muy inspirational! Here is my take:

I pulled out some old stamps that I love but don't use very often. I got them at the Purple Turtle Stamp Shoppe online, but I can't for the life of me find the website. Did they go out of business?? Oh please someone let me know! The stamp set is called French Quarter, and I don't even know the brand. OY! This is not good! Well, they are great and if anyone knows, drop me a line so I can post it.
I punched out those circles and put them on pop dots for some dimension, and paper pierced the elephant to give it a nice polka dot look. My ribbon was a bit wide so I twisted it and it seemed to help. So thats it! Thanks for stopping by today, and as always I would love for you to play along, just create and post a link in the comments so I can check it out!

Also, I am looking for the perfect Robin's Egg Blue... Anyone have suggestions of some ink and paper? I am dying for some!!

365 Lady Bug Style

Hey y'all!! Another monday morning and things are starting out right. I decided after doing so many different challenges last week, that I would actually do ALL of the 365 Card challenges instead and try to slip in a few different ones here and there. So todays challenge at 365 Cards is all about the ladybug. We are supposed to use it as inspiration and also to think outside the box.
Well, I didn't want to just put a ladybug on my card, so this is what I came up with:

It is so simple, you might be bored. But when I googled "ladybug images" I got a lot of green green leaves with little bugs on them. So that was my inspiration. And you know, sending hugs sounds  a lot like 'lady bugs', so I went with it.

On another note, I am so astonished that it's almost April. Wha? WHA?? Where did good 'ol March go? And why did we have a hail storm last night? I just don't get it. Really.

Anyway. Enough ramblings today. Patrick took the day off today to make up for the emergency trip to Vancouver last week (right when we were to close on our house... ask me later for the full story) It was SO stressful, so we are looking forward to a day playing with the kids. Hope the weather cooperates.

Have a great Monday everybody! And check out 365 Cards to see what Gloria has in store for you. It's sure to be fabulous!

365 Cards Super Sketchy Sunday #4

Can you believe 365 Cards has been going for an entire month already!?!? How much fun are you having? Because I am having a blast! I love having a challenge each day. Something that really stretches your mind (even if I haven't finished them all ; ) If you have yet to check out 365 Cards, jump on over there and see what's going on. You will be happy you did! So today is a sketch (as it is each sunday) Here is what we had to work with:
Such a fun sketch by Pam. And here is my take:

I started with the new Mother set from Papertrey Ink (I was SO thrilled that I won it!) I hand stamped some Lavender Moon paper with a holiday set by Martha Stewart. Its actually a Christmas set with partridge birds and pine cones, but it also has some twigs and other things that will fly as "not Christmas-y." I stamped using some Lavender and Fresh Snow ink.

I also stamped some Linen Vellum with my houndstooth backgrounder from CHF. Cut all the circles with my cuttlebug and nestabilities. Only thing left was to add the fabulous buttons and finish off the sentiment.

I talked to my mom the other day (*well actually EVERY day this week) And told her that this was NOT her mother's day card. I don't want to spoil the surprise. She and you will just have to wait to see what she is getting. This will go to another special mother in my life... I think she doesn't read this blog, or at least not too often so maybe she won't notice ; )

Thanks for checking in today! Head on over to 365 Cards to see what the other DT members have made. I can guarantee they are fabulous!!

Caardvarks Sketch Challenge

Over at Caardvarks their challenge is sponsored by Hero Arts. I dug through my stash to find that I don't own many of their stamps even though I love them dearly. Must change that soon!
Here is the sketch:
And here is my take.
It's a bit different than the sketch because of the stamps I had to use. But I did it nonetheless and that is another challenge I have scratched off my list! I realized in my quest to do challenges this week that I have already missed quite a few deadlines. I can't believe how many we have out there! Lots to do but oh, so fun!

Thanks for checking in today.
See Ya!

Card*Ability Sketch Challenge #4!

Here is this weeks sketch over at Card-Ability:

And here is my card:

I haven't used these cupcakes in awhile and they are just delectable! Instead of using an oval I used three small circles and offset the square a bit. That paper looks completely red, but it is in fact Raspberry fizz.
I popped up the cupcake tops to add some dimension. I really want to eat cupcakes now!!
Thanks for stopping in today. Have a good one!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

It's that time again!!
This months blog hop is all about background stamping. And if you read this blog or know anything about me, you know that I LOVE background stamping. It is such a rewarding way to stamp! So I am glad I got to participate this month. I started with quite a few sets, see if you can tell where I used them:

Around & About Sentiments
Guide Lines
Polka Dot Basics
Beautiful Blooms

You can probably see all of them but Around & About Sentiments. I used the outline circle from that set to add a third circle to the Guide Lines Stamp. I stamped Lemon Tart with SU! Summer Sun which adds a great punch. The pink is SU! Pink Passion, although in hindsight I have no idea why I didn't use Raspberry Fizz. It's almost the same thing, but so much better.

And here is my card!
That ribbon looks like Pure Poppy, but I assure you its actually Raspberry Fizz. Darn Camera.
I popped up the little bunny from the Bitty Blessings set to add to my tag. Hope you like!  Can't wait to see what everyone else whipped up. Papertrey Ink Blog Hop always has the most amazing entries and it's so fun to hop around and see them, so that is what I am going to go do!
Thanks for stopping by!

365 Cards: Ad Inspired!

It's Wednesday again! Yeah for Wednesday's!!!
Today is my day at 365 Cards and we have an Ad Inspiration for you! Here is the ad:
I love the contrast of color on white and white on color. So I used that as the main idea in my card. Here is my take:
I used my Gel-A-Tins Big & Wild Things set. I LOVE this set. I has such great silhouette images!! I also think their acrylic is a really great quality. I highly recommend them! Anyway, I popped up each layer to give dimension. I love the black with these colors.
So head on over to 365 Cards and link up your creation for today. I hope this Ad inspires you the way it did me! And I hope to see you this weekend for 365 Cards Sketchy Sunday!

365 Cards: Setting The Scene

The challenge today over at 365 Cards is to make a scene on your card. Which you can do by fussy cutting, using stickers or cutting out your stamped images. Here is my take on the challenge:

I cut out everything except that cute grass. I won it off of Kim Kesti's Blog! It's laser cut Spring Grass by Making Memories. The tree and bird was stamped and cut out, the sun is a Nestability circle and some trimming of paper for the rays. I was a bit stumped on where to start with this challenge, but had so much fun doing it! Take some time today to check it out!

So on a side note I ran yesterday with a friend and boy oh boy was it painful! My silent mantra was "don't throw up, don't throw up." But that was more toward the end. I have been hungry all day and I'm sportin' two sore legs and really the idea of doing it again tomorrow does make me a bit sick. I won't be waking up at 6am (thank GOODNESS!) but I will be going out at some point. I have to... there really isn't a choice. So laugh at me or throw up with me, regardless I am one out of shape mama and need to get it in gear!

So that's it for today I think. I am trying really hard to get a lot of challenges done this week so keep checking back. There will be quite a few posts coming your way in the next few days. Tomorrow is my turn at 365 Cards and also there is the PTI Blog Hop.
Hope to see you again!!

Take-Off Tuesday #19

I got this new catalog in the mail this week. If you haven't checked out the lovelies at Serena & Lily, you are in for quite a treat.  This is the add I picked:
I adore this! I love the colors, but also the fine print on the sheets, the bold square and that map on the wall! OY!! I just love it. Here is my take on this inspiration:Using some more of my new stuff from Rubber Soul. This cute little giraffe was actually a freebie they sent with my order. Just a little extra love from them to make my day. Thanks Rubber Soul! They are really great and such nice people at Customer Service. (um.. I think I have said this all before ; )

For Christmas I ordered a bunch of PTI Night Sky Shimmer Cardstock for the cards that I actually never got around to sending out *gasp*. But they fit this project perfectly. Up close it really adds some depth to the Fresh Snow ink. You can't tell from the photo, but I popped up the giraffe with thick pop dots to bring it out a bit. I love this image and sentiment. SO much fun to stamp!
I also thought this giraffe went quite well with that map and safari feel of this room. And that was a happy accident!
So thats it for today! Please know you are welcome to play along anytime with Take-Off Tuesday. If something here inspires you, make a card/altered item and leave me a link in the comments. I would love to see what you make!!
Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to check back tomorrow. It's my day over at 365 Cards!

Happy Monday!!

I never thought I would actually put those two words together, but it is Monday and I hope you are all  happy!! I have a quick little card to share today:

I got a few new things in the mail this last week from Rubber Soul. Did you know they are having a sale?!?! Well, go check it out! I have never owned their stamps and was curious if I would love them, and.... I do! The order processed SO fast!! This little guy is cute and simple and fun to stamp. I used some PTI Linen Vellum which gives such nice texture for things like this. It adds some dimension. These papers  (and ribbon) Rubber Soul sent as a freebie and they are SO great!!! Thank YOU!! That background piece is just ONE piece of paper. One piece, three different designs, and so cute. Unfortunately I don't know who its by.

Hope you have a great week! I realized I have a bajillion challenge blogs on my bloglines, and I actually hope to do some of them, so wish me luck and check back often for some stuff to see.

Also I am starting my running training this week. I hope to run a 5 K on May 2nd from Times Square to Central Park for the Revlon run for Breast Cancer. I am gonna need a lot of help to get ready for it. Thankfully I have a friend that loves to run and is willing to come to my house at the crack of dawn to pull me out of bed. Thank you friend. I could not do this without you ; )
If you would love to donate to a good cause, check out our team website to donate or if you are in this area and want to participate, you should sign up!! We would love to have you!

Thanks for stopping by today and check back tomorrow for Take Off Tuesday!

365 Cards Super Sketchy Sunday!!

Here is the sketch from todays 365 Cards Challenge. Its a great sketch to play with.

Here is my take:

I am embarrassed to admit this is the second card that I made for this challenge. The first one was OH, so gaggy... if thats an actual word. This one is MUCH better. Whew!

Using Papertrey Ink's Around & About Sentiments I stamped the "thank you very much" line and circle and filled the heck out of the thing with K&Co. products.  I rolled some of my favorite twine to give it a final touch.

So now it's your turn! Check out what the other DT member created at 365 Cards. Then get your craft on today and link up your creation so we can enjoy it too!

365 Cards: Sing Along Saturday

Todays challenge over at 365 Cards is to use lyrics to inspire a card. The lyrics we were given are from Lean On Me by Bill Withers. I read through the lyrics and to be honest I looked through all my stamps and just couldn't think of something that fit perfectly. But the title of the song wouldn't go away. I wanted it to be symbolic and the only thing that kept coming to my brain was "tree" (its strong and you can lean on it right?!) Obvious, but it's all I got. So I went with it:

I did a few things on this card that I have never done before. First, I took a Scalloped Circle Nestability and used it as a template to paper pierce around. You can't see it very well in the first picture, but I paper pierced a circle behind each tree.
I also stamped the leaves in three colors, and off set them a bit. It might seem like a lot but gives it good dimension. And that sentiment.... completely computer generated. I opened up Photoshop and typed it out. Picking the font was the hardest part. I wanted something clean, simple and not obvious (as in not helvetica). I printed it on my Kraft paper and cut it out. And Voila! My card!

Using music can be such a great source of inspiration. So come and join in on the fun over at 365 Cards. Read the lyrics, make your card and share the link. Oh, and have a smashing weekend!

365 Cards: Inside Out!

Todays 365 Cards Challenge is all about putting the sentiment and most embellishments on the INSIDE of the card. So here is the outside.....

No real embellishments to speak of. A little dab of ribbon. And here is the INSIDE...
Robot Pop-Up Card!!!

I used another Doodle Factory image. Mr. Bloop the Robot. I then made my own conversation bubble. I started with a punched oval and cut it a bit to make it come to a point. I also covered the pink lines with some glitter. Not sure if you can see that.
In the far bottom right corner.... the actual sentiment. Get Well Soon! It ended up being a bit of a random card, but I do like it nonetheless. Mostly because it actually got finished. So this card is definitely on my good side. There have been a lot lately that haven't made it this far!

Head on over to 365 Cards to see what Sophie has in store for you. And join in the fun! Good to see you today, thanks for stopping by!

Me LOVE Cookie!!!

This is who I am in a nutshell... I created this card based off of Laura's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You last week, and then promptly forgot to post it.... DUH! So I am sharing it now even though I missed the deadline!

The sponsor for last week was Doodle Factory at Starving Artist Stamps. So I pulled out my favorite guy. The one guy who gets me, and I get him. "Cookie Guy." (That's not his actual name, its just the name I have properly given him).

I used Polka Dot Basics to make my 'chocolate chip cookie' background. Did it work??? I hope so. I added a bit of S.E.I striped paper and colored my guy with some colored pencils. I am trying to hone my coloring skeelz since I haven't colored in a Looooooong time and it's something I want to get good at. Funny thing about it is, I am using the colored pencils I picked up last year at the dollar store for the kids. I have a hunch I might get better if I used REAL pencils. But until I am committed to coloring A LOT, I find myself spending my $ on stamps instead. One day I am sure I will pick up a nice set and color all the live long day.

Anyway. Hope you are having a great day today! I am trying to withstand the urge to make cookies after seeing this card again. I ate quite a few last week, and [not] shockingly around the same time I made this card. It's a curse!!

365 Cards: Going Green

Hope you had a great St. Patrick's Day yesterday!!! I totally forgot and didn't wear green or even think about leprechaun's! But, today's challenge at 365 Cards is to Go Green, shades of green that is. So today instead of taking it "green St. Patty's Day" I decided to go green the natural way. Here is my card:

I used two different kinds of green paper and topped it with green ink. I love the soothing effect of the three leaf images.  Go green today and create something for your 365 Card stash. You will be glad you did!

I love this weeks Take-Off. I would LOVE to live in this room! I guess instead I will have to settle for a card....

Here is my take:
I used Gel-A-Tins Big & Wild Things. Have I told you yet how much I love the images? They are SO fabulous! I wanted to keep this modern and clean. No embellishments and very little layering. I'm glad I was able to keep it under control!

Hambly Screenprints

I love these screen prints by Hambly. They are shaped like little postcards and have different images with them. There is like 8 or so on a sheet. You can see them HERE. Anyway, we get invited to dinner once in a while and I thought they might make a good thank you card:

I actually matted the placard on some True Black card stock by Papertrey Ink. I stamped a little and added a new vintage button in New Leaf (also Papertrey Ink).

I am falling in love with these vintage buttons.  So many different buttons to choose from and as you can see, very fun. So while I was taking these picture, my "card making cohort" decided the picture would be much better with a cookie in it:

And his cute face too. In fact, I think he's on to something. This would make a pretty sweet thank you gift (minus the kid, of course). He definitely has a knack. For cookies AND paper. Boy am I in trouble! ; ) Thanks for checking in today.
Have a good one!

365 Cards: Super Sketchy Sunday #3

Hooray for another Sunday! Here is this weeks Sketch over at 365 Cards.

Here is my take on the challenge:

I decided to rotate the sketch for a little change. I used a set from Gel-a-tins called Sewing Kit and it is OH so fun!!  I hand stamped the background with a variety of button stamps in the set and stamped some stitching on the ribbon. I love the color contrast of purple and yellow. So spunky!

Head on over to 365 Cards to check out what the other DT members have in store for you. They are some amazing crafty ladies, so don't miss out! Also, take some time this week to complete the challenge and post it so we can see your wonderful creations!

Tri-Fold Card

I originally started this card out as a tri-fold, but the folds ended up not being in even 3rds. The top flap is a bit shorter so its an envelope and card in one! You slip off the ribbon to open the flap.

I hand stamped the damask image and the polka dots with some SU! Pink Passion ink. This color stamped on the Summer Sunrise paper ended up changing the look of the pink a bit. So I actually used PTI Berry Sorbet when I stamped on white card stock because it was closer to what the Pink Passion and Summer Sunrise looked combined. Does that make sense? Regardless, I like the contrast of the colors!

Inside you can see I placed a note card to write on with a little rose to add interest. This is a great way to make up a card that will be hand delivered. It looks prettier than a regular white envelope!
That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by!!

365 Cards: Primary Color Birthday!

Todays challenge over at 365 Cards is to make a birthday card but stick to the primary colors. I love this challenge so I wanted to participate! Here's my card:

I love stamping on this Linen Vellum from Papertrey Ink. It creates such a nice texture with ink!
I popped up each balloon on its own colored embossed circle and added some black twine for the strings. I also scored between each hand stamped panel to add some dimension. Have a Happy Happy Birthday!

CPS 106: Sketch

Here is this week's sketch over at CPS

I love the swirlies on this one and couldn't wait to give it a shot. Here is my card:
I cut up some of my favorite paper by Scenic Route. I am happy it is getting used. It's it just fun? I then took the Around & About Sentiments Stamp Set from Papertrey Ink and curved it on my block to match the swirl in the sketch.  I flipped the sketch because when I was getting close to being done, it just looked better this way. i think its because the pattern in the paper and the combo together just needed to go vertical instead. It looked nicer to me so I changed it!

Inside I added a white note card with rounded corners and mirrored some more circles from the front. That's it for today... really. I have kids getting up from naps so the day has progressed beyond my regular "card time." Thanks for visiting. It was nice while it lasted ; )

Be sure to check back tomorrow. I'm participating in the 365 Card Challenge, so come check it out.  You know, you should really start doing them too, they are SO fun!
See you then-
