365 Cards: White Space Challenge

Hey there ladies and (maybe some gents!), Can you believe it's the last day of September? I am truly shocked at how fast life goes by!  Today's the 365 Card challenge is up. It'ss another fun white space challenge. And let me tell you, this one was a real challenge for me!
Here is my take:
This is card #2 that I made. The first was SOOOO bad I will not even show it to you! For this second one I pulled out the Jolly By Golly Mini Deck by Cosmo Cricket. Can I say, LOVE these papers!!! They are really fun. I also used the sign stamp from PTI's Sign Language set. I thought the Warm Wishes sentiment went really well with the hot cocoa that I cut out and popped up with dots. (Um, where is the dimension in this photo people... everything looks flat!)

So it really is quite explanatory. Embroidery floss, button, glittery ribbon. Makes me want hot chocolate with peppermint. And have you been asking your self what my deal is with holiday cards lately??? I can't seem to stop making them! They sure are fun, but I promise I will bust out my Halloween sets soon! Will try to get crackin' on that one!

Thanks for stopping by today. Can't wait to see how this challenge inspires you. Will be coming around your blogs tonight for a gander!

2 Sketches 4 You: Kazan Sketch 36

Hey all. Good Tuesday mornin' to ya! I am determined this week to get my crafting organized. Mostly I keep forgetting when challenges are due, so I either don't get to them or they sit unfinished. No longer my friends!! So without further ado, today's 2S4Y sketch, if you please:
My take:
I have had my sewing machine actually sitting out since the hubby left. It's really the only way to use is since it takes up most of the living room table and he really doesn't like junk laying around (my sewing machine.... junk??!?)  It's fun to get to it when I want, but boy oh boy it does take up a lot of room! But I do like it ; ) This sweet little set is another fun banner set from Pink Persimmon. I tell ya, their stamps are so fun, I am going to use them all before I am supposed to! But, I have been wanting to test them all out, so here ya go!

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a good one!

Cupcake!

Hey there Cupcake! This is a cute image from Pink Persimmon that I wanted to try out last night. I got to break out these Spellbinder tags which I have been wanting for ages. They are every bit as fabulous and useful as they seem. I need to get caught up on my Spellbinder buying. They come out with so many new things and I am barely getting around to affording the old stuff!

This poor little card... it started out WAY different than this. Sometimes things just don't work out the way you hoped. But I feel I salvaged it a bit. SOoooo, this is how we are starting out the week. Anyone else worried???

Ok. Today the kid is out of school so we are off to the park and probably will get icecream at some point. Of course that is more for me than for him ; )

Have a lovely day!

365 Cards: Sketchy Sunday!!

Happy Sunday to you!! Here is today's 365 Cards Sunday Sketch:
And here is my take on said sketch:
I busted out some new stamps! Boy are they fun to play with!. That bird is from Pink Persimmon. It's a part of a banner set which is just as fun. The rest are Papertrey Ink. And since hubby is out of town, I am with my kids 24/7 which means during photo time too. They wanted in on a bit of the action and since I think they are so darn cute, I thought I would indulge myself:
Here we are on the back porch cause our little point and shoot takes HORRIBLE photos in the lightbox. Can't wait till my camera comes back! (oh and my hubby too ; ) The kids both have stickers because they slept so well last night. What a difference a good nights rest makes! They have been cherubs all day. Just pure bliss... well, until a nap was missed, then it got a bit scary.

I went out tonight and left them with a friend. When I picked them up Ronin informed me that he was going to steal this really cool thing from his friend, but then had decided not to and gave it to me. *sigh* Our first theft encounter and it went as well as could be expected! We had  a long discussion after that and I am so proud of him for choosing the right. AND for telling me about it. Hope that keeps up.

Ok. I guess that's a perfect Sunday discussion! Hope you have a good one and get some good crafting in today. All this crafting time I thought I would have with my hubby gone seems to disappear SO fast, and not much gets accomplished. Been working on a few submissions and projects that I can't show you yet, but I do hope you likey!

thanks for checking in!

Woot! I love Paper Crafts!!

Hey there all! It's finally friday. Another week of school has passed for my kindergartener, my hubby is now gone for the week and I ate too many brownies last night. All in all, I can't complain!! And I am especially happy because you may have noticed the new edition of Paper Crafts Magazine is out:

And would you even have guessed it that little 'ol moi has her first published card right inside!!! (pg. 39) Ooh, I am so excited I can't stop squealing!! Here it is!:
I remember when I got the acceptance email (back in february!) and thinking, oh that day will never come! But here it is and I am excited to share it with you.  I only used one stamp on this baby. The rest are 3-D stickers.
Anyway. Thanks for letting me toot my own horn! And I will see you back here on Sunday for 365 Cards Sketchy Sunday Challenge!!

Thanks for checking in today. Have a smashing weekend!!

365 Cards: Pattern Paper Challenge

I know I said yesterday that I would only be posting one holiday card, but I seem to have lied. I found some inspiration in the mail and had to put it to use. Today's 365 Card Challenge is to make your own patterned paper and use it on your card. Here is the final product and below that I will show you how I made it:

Ok. I wanted to create a sort of quilted pattern. It started out pretty good. You can see here I started by using the PTI  Guidelines set. This is the base stamp of the set, then you add in extras, but I just wanted the diamonds so I left it this way. I used cream ink on white cardstock. It helps it show up but kept it subtle at the same time. I stamped it a bit crooked, but its easily remedied as you will see:
Then I pulled out another PTI set, Faux Ribbon. This is a great set for creating your own striped patterns. I chose Old Olive and Purely Pomegranate ink to create the following pattern:
This is mid-stamping. (i don't have all the pomegranate lines on yet). You can see here how crooked it is, but if you follow along the lines and keep everything straight to each other and not the edge of the page, you can cut it down till it looks straight, which is what I did.
Here is my inspiration. I just really loved the look of the front of this catalog. Cream, white, maroon, olive and stitching. That was the one thing I liked. And I did want to stitch along the cream lines and then totally spaced it until I had it all glued together. Darn!  The actual striped pattern is a bit of a take-off of a pattern we have on the back wall of our chapel. It didn't actually turn out the perfectly (I miss counted... too many stripes!), but it was good enough so I didn't feel the need to start over. Ok, so then I cut down my paper so it was straight and put it on the front of my card. I finished off the rest of the card with matching colors of ribbon, button and signage. Add a little glitter and your holiday card is ready to send!
Ok, that's all for today. Can't wait to see what patterns you come up with for your creations! And remember to put in your vote for boy names in the side bar. So far Kai has 50% of the votes (which isn't hard when only 6 people have voted! ; ) I'm curious to see what you all think, so drop me a vote and a hello!

have a good one!

Merry & Bright

Switching it up today folks. So you think its fall?? whelp, here it's already Christmas! At least for today. A little something I cooked up to start of the season. You know, to get my holiday on... I usually don't get into the holidays this early, (you should see my frantic holiday shopping on Christmas Eve), but this year I actually have started! I bought a train table set for my youngest train fanatic yesterday. I was debating about it, but once I heard I was having another boy, I figured I might as well go for it. Boy stuff all the way here baby!

Anyway, I figured as long as I was buying Christmas gifts, I might as well be posting Holiday Cards, right?!?
These are all K&Co. Embellishments; Sticker Snowflakes and Adhesive Gems. A little Mona Lisa Moments sentiment (I really love THIS set) and some nice twill ribbon to go with it.

You may have noticed on my sidebar a little poll I am taking from now until baby boy #3 is born. So far I have 4 names that I and my husband actually agree on. I thought I would bring it to you to help me narrow the field a bit. I hope to give birth by Feb. 1 so that is when the poll will end. Heaven help us if this baby isn't out by then ; ) And feel free to let me know what names you really hate because they remind you of the boy in 4th grade that picked his nose. I need to take all of that into consideration! And of course feel free to suggest your own. If we don't get this done I will seriously put baby boy #3 on his birth certificate! I am just that kind-a person ; )

Ok, have a great day, and see you tomorrow for another 365 Cards Challenge!

365 Cards: Sketchy Sunday!

Hey there everyone. Boy has it been a busy week! I am glad to be back with you today for 365 Cards Sketchy Sunday! Here is the fun sketch Pam provided us all with:

Here is my take on it:
I love that the sketch leaves so much room for interpretation. I felt inspired!! I used some new Pink Persimmon stamps for this one. Boy am I loving them!! I highly recommend them. They work perfectly.
I embossed my larger circle jewel with silver and popped it up with some dots. Added some ribbon loops, other gems and that cute saying! All the images in this set are jewels which makes it so fun to use. I stamped the sentiment with some silver ink as well. I colored in some of the background jewels with my star Gelly Roll pen (of course..cause I lurv it!)  and scalloped the bottom of the card. I used some of my Scarlet Jewel cardstock from PTI just so it would all match up ; )

Whatcha up to on this fabulous sunday?? We are driving to the airport and dropping off the inlaws. *sniff*sniff*  Vacations never last long enough. Plus my DH is leaving town this week which means two things. I will be doing bedtimes by myself, but I will have plenty of crafting time!! All in all they balance each other out I guess.

So have a wonderful day. I will not promise to be back tomorrow, but for sure the rest of the week as I get my bearings again. Lots of laundry and cleaning up to be done.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

In Every Life a little Rain Must Fall

Happy Thursday!! Today's card is the one I made for yesterday's challenge before I really read the rules! And of course in all the frantic mess of the week I forgot to take a photo of the inside of the card. Here is the outside:

I used some Cosmo Cricket love for my paper piercing. I tried to pop up the umbrella on a smaller 2x2 piece to give it a bit more emphasis. The inside of the card reads "In Every Life a little rain must fall." Its a perfect sentiment for who this card is intended for. My brother who was just married two months ago has come down with Mono. He is still trying to go to school but he is really out of it. He is so sick and his dear new bride has just started her student teaching at a high school. So she is doing new and hard things and is super busy and comes home to a sick husband. Things crazy for them both and I can only imagine how challenging it must be for them right now. I thought I would send them a little pick me up to let them know that this doesn't last forever and that being married really is a fun time!! I hope they get over this little hump soon. They are both so wonderful and dear to me. I love them!!

Anyway. I just wanted to remind you to enter into the drawing for a free Pink Persimmon stamp set. You can do so on THIS POST. You have until Sept. 19th (saturday) to comment. Just let me know what you like over at their website and you can win. Plus check out the other Creative Team members blogs and comment there too for more chances to win!!

365 Cards: Miss You Challenge

Ok people. I totally missed yesterday all together. We got on the road really late, got to the hotel and crashed and now I am sitting in a Panera Bread using their free Wi-Fi trying to get this posted. Today's 365 Card Challenge is called "It's what's inside that counts"  Basically you should make a card where the image on the outside matches the sentiment which should be on the inside. And here is the real kick... it must be a MISS YOU card. SO here is my little contribution:

I can see I over exposed this one just a bit. Boy is that nest bright! But that's what it is... an empty nest. Here is what the inside shows:
Again... a bit bright. There are two little eggs stamped by the sentiment. Missing You. So sad!  I actually mis-read the challenge (again!) and made up a different card that I will share with you tomorrow. But I quickly made up this one to actually fit the challenge. You know how I like to follow the rules (*wink wink* Gloria!)

So that's it for today's  card. We are heading back up to NY tonight and will probably be driving late again but I will use Panera for a little bit longer to get my post scheduled so you can see a card tomorrow. We just came down quick to help some family check on a house they are renting. The rest of the week we have a birthday party planned, a Mets game and some pepper jelly to put up. Should be a fun time!

And for those of you who may be interested, we found out the gender of our baby yesterday. Drum Roll Please...... It's A BOY!!! That makes 3 boys people. 3!!! What is a girl to do??? Actually I am quite happy about it all. I love boys. They are fun and happy and keep me running, but I can't complain really. They love their moms and that makes me smile. Now we are baby name hunting. Any of you have suggestions, I am happy to hear it!!

Thanks for stopping by and let me know what you are up to!

365 Cards Sketchy Sunday

Good Morning to you all on this glorious Sunday! I hope things are well in your neck of the woods. We had a loooong week here so a relaxing weekend was greatly needed. We feel plain pooped out at the happenings of last week! All is well though as we are picking up my in-laws today and have an entire week with them. Even DH is taking the week off. I am so grateful and excited for it all to start!!

Today's 365 Card Sketch is here and ready for you to play along with:
I couldn't get away from the colors on this one. I have been seeing the Halloween goods come out all around me and have been itching to ink up my new Halloween Sets. This sketch just pushed me right over the edge! I thought I would wait until next month to open them, but of course the excitement was TOO great! So I opened them both AND the pattern paper and made up this little ditty:

Isn't that pumpkin face just the cutest??? I smile every time I see it. This is from the Boo to You set and the sentiment is from 2009 Halloween Tags. Both Papertrey Ink.

That's all for me here on this blessed day of rest. I hope you have a great one! And just as a side note, I may be a bit scarce around the blog-o-sphere this week with company and all. We hope to get some work done around the house and cram in some RnR as well, so blogging will be light. I will definitely be back for Wednesdays 365 Cards Challenge and also, this week we find out the gender of babe #3 so stay tuned for that!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Baby Shower!

Tonight I am hosting a baby shower for a friend. I made up a few goodies to party with. Here are the party favors that will be filled with chocolate covered rice crispy treats. OH! I can't wait to eat them!

Using 8x11 CS, I cut long ways to get three strips at about 2.75 inches. I then scored at 1 3/4", 5" and then scored 3/4 inches from the 5"score mark. (I will pull together a tut soon so you can see what I'm talking about) I then cut up some burlap to use as background (it matches the next project I did) and added some fun hearts with the Earth Love paper from Cosmo Cricket.  I hope to get these babies all wrapped up in the next few hours.

Next I made a banner for some decoration. Please ignore the horrible photo. My good camera is out again today with DH at the theater. I did the best I could!!
Here is the full banner. It says BABY and is strung up on grosgrain ribbon. Here they are close up:
I used the stamps from Bitty Baby Blessings. Hand drew the 'B' and backstitched it with bakery twine by Martha Stewart. I also strung on some silver beads.

Next up... 'A' I used my Marvy Small Heart Punch. Added some buttons and a little tag that matches the one for the party favors
Second 'B'. This one is a little bear. I think I will add another strip of paper at the bottom to round this one out. What do you think?? I love the rustic buttons!!
Last 'Y'  This photo has serious issued. I have some stars, some beads (from the 70's!) and more bakery twine.

Ok. that is it for today and probably tomorrow. I have a birthday bbq to go to, and hope to get a pic of at least the card, but you know tomorrow is so packed with things to do I don't know if I will actually get that done!!  But be sure to come back at least on Sunday for 365 Cards Sketchy Sunday!!
And until then, I hope you have a smashing weekend!!

DOH! (Otherwise known as Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #16)

I missed it AGAIN! I knew I was going to. We even had an entire week for this challenge, and I still missed it. In fact I didn't even get this thing started until days after it was due. But I LOVE the colors Dawn chose as they are some of my favorites, so I couldn't help but do something for the challenge even if I seem like a scatterbrain. Here is my card:
I am making another project with this burlap fabric so it has been sitting out. I thought I would use it as my 'kraft' color. The rest is all Papertrey Ink. Chocolate, Summer Sunrise, Rustic Vintage Cream. I opened another stamp set. I couldn't help myself!! This one is 2009 Autumn Tags. And it is every bit as fun as it looks. (and more!)

I am hosting a baby shower here on friday (for a friend) and have a few things I have cooked up. I hope to share them with you soon. Also, I will be back on Sunday for the 365 Cards Sketch so I will be seeing you!

Thanks for stopping by!

365 Cards: Sassy Studio Designs!

Hey there. Top o' the morning to ya! Its a wednesday again and my chance to get in on the Sassy Studio Design fun over at 365 Cards. Here is the challenge we have been given by Pam.

Card Recipe:
4 Patterned Papers
5x5 Card
3 Blossoms
5 Gems
1 Stamped image (digi or ink)
choice of sentiment

And here is the fun image I got to use from Sassy Studio:

This is my Go Go Girl! So maybe now that sentiment will mean more to you. Get it?? I paper pieced her dress, which I am in love with! I so wish I could wear an outfit like this one. I of course added a lot of shine to her with my Gelly Roll pens and filled in the rest with colored pencils. You can see the blossoms, on the left hand side. They are tiny but blossoms nonetheless!  I added some orange to give some spunk and made it match her hair.

This is a super fun image to use and I have had a great time working with Sassy Studio Designs this week. Have you been over to their website yet??? Go check it out already!! There are so many fun images just waiting to help you out with any occasion. Have fun shopping!

Can't wait to see what you create with the card recipe for today. have a great time!

365 Cards Sketchy Sunday: Sassy Studio Designs

Wow! How this weekend has flown by. Happy Sunday Everyone! I have been MIA these last few days. I totally didn't mean to not have a card to post, but that seems to be what happened. My DH spent most of friday off at the house getting ready to go out of town, and you know he always throws me for a loop! Then I had a little road trip planned with some friends for saturday and we were out all day and that brings me to sunday with only one card to show and that is for 365 Cards Sketchy Sunday!! Here is today's sketch:

We are SO lucky to have Sassy Studio Designs as our sponsor this week. We received some super cute images to play with and we can't wait to get the challenges started!! Here is my image using todays sketch:

I can think of a number of little girls that might want a pretty princess to wish them happy birthday! There really are so many things you can do with this Princess and mask image. What about a costume party invitations and you could make your very own masquerade masks for all your guests (you can get a full size one from Sassy Studio Designs) or even birthday party decorations, place holders... the list goes on!

This was a fun image to color and paper piece. And as you may be able to tell, I got crazy with the Star Gelly Roll Pen. I put glitter on every line of that dress. (Click on the picture for a close up.) This girl shimmers like crazy! I also cut up a prima flower to make my feathers for the mask and as one last touch, I folded along the bottom dress lines to give the skirt some movement.

Well, that is all for today. I will be checking back with you this week with more fun things from Sassy Studio Designs and other things I just may have lurking up my sleeve ; ) Be sure to stop by Sassy Studio Designs BLOG and WEB SITE to take a gander at the other fun images they have to offer. And be sure to participate this week, you just could be our lucky winner!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Hoppy Birthday!

I have a friend who's birthday was yesterday. I wanted to make her up something special. This is what I came up with and thought I would share it really quick:

A little basic card. 3.5 x 3.5 with some black polkadots and lots of bright green. The grasshopper is from Summer Trees by Kim Hughes. The sentiment is Papertrey Ink (Green Thumb Set). I added some star Gelly Roll pen action for a bit of spice. This ribbon is actually green with blue polka dots, but I didn't want the dots so I turned it to the back side to only show green. Here is the treat bag I paired with it:
It was a total fluke that I had a bag the same color of green. I was so glad it was big enough because halfway through making the card I realized I wanted to send Grasshopper Cookies with it. Just the perfect treat for this card right!? I was so excited that my brain was actually working and I could come up with that idea! And it all fit into my green bag with no problems. I tied some embroidery floss around the handle and slide my card onto it to hang. I wanted it to be the focal point of the bag, so I avoided an envie. I added some polka dots to some tissue paper as a border and Voila... It was done!  Happy Birthday Laura. Hope your day was great. Thanks for being my friend!

Now, thanks to all of you who participated in the 365 Card Challenge yesterday. What a fun time it was to see all of your creations. For those of you who haven't had a chance to play along, you still have time, so don't give up yet. You have til the end of the week and I hope to get to view more of your creations. I am so glad it inspired you and in so many different ways. I am always amazed to see how differently each of our brains work. What spice it brings to life and creativity!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

365 Cards Ad Inspiration Challenge!

Hey folks. Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is an Ad Inspiration challenge. I was lucky enough to get to pick our ad for today. Here is what I found in my mailbox last week:

Now, I have ALWAYS loved black and white. My bedroom was decorated like that for years (at my parents house). They are my go-to colors for my wardrobe and there is just something extra special about it when you have a pop of color! This entire catalog is so much fun to look through. It has a nice 20's edge to it too which I also adore. Ok, enough chat... Here is my card for today:
It speaks for itself eh? I don't have anything to share about it really, other than I loved making it. I had some really great products that went wonderfully with the inspiration, so it pulled together quickly. One thing I did do that might need explaining, is I double stamping the leaves to give them some shadow. I used Old Olive first and then stamped the Fresh Snow on top. I like the dimension it gives.
I used a white colored pencil on the flower inside and traced the circles with a bowl for my arches. I thought that would fit the curve of the shoe from the ad nicely. I thought this sentiment was perfect too. It's the kind of thing I would think a flapper girl would say. That kind of fit the entire catalog genre to me. Very fabulous indeed.

Ok. That's all my friends. I hope you find this image inspiring and get a chance to create today. Be sure to head on over to 365 Cards to link up your creations and I will come back tonight to check them all out!
Have a great day. Over and out...

Hambly Print

Happy September everyone!!! Yesterday was PERFECT weather, and we don't expect anything different for the rest of the week. September is without a doubt the most beautiful month in NYC.  Ok, just a little somethin' somethin' for you to see today. I didn't want to muck this one up with a sentiment (mostly because I didn't know what it should say!), But now its seeming a bit bare to me. What do you think??

This comes from Hambly Screen Prints and its a full sheet of these vintage style postcards. You just cut them up and create! I added some seriously sweet vintage buttons. Boy I am running out of those babies FAST!
Be sure to check back tomorrow for my 365 Cards Challenge. I will be having an Ad Inspiration that you just can't wait to get started on... trust me ; )

Ok. Today's agenda includes Ronin's big Kindergarten Breakfast. Patrick took the morning off so he could go too. We are meeting the teacher and the kids and seeing his classroom for the first time. Big steps!!
Wish us luck!
loves~
